Government, non-government and English-medium schools
| Type | How admission usually works | What parents should check |

| Non-government school | Each school sets its own dates, fee and process. Some use a lottery, some use an interview or test. | The school’s own circular and website. |
| English-medium school | The school decides its own process, and many take admission earlier in the year. | Curriculum, fees and exam board. |
For the national rules, read our guides on school admission policy, the government school admission circular and the non-government school admission circular.
Tips for choosing a school
- Make a list of three to five schools. Seats in well-known schools fill quickly, so keep backups.
- Check the real travel route. A school that looks close on the map may take much longer in traffic or in the rainy season.
- Check the age rule early. Use the age calculator to confirm that your child meets the limit on 1 January 2027.
- Check your category. If you may qualify for a quota, try the quota checker.
- Save the application receipt. You may need it at the interview and the lottery.
- Always confirm on the official site. Dates and fees can change after a circular is published.
About the data on this page
The school list is compiled from public sources such as education board lists and school circulars. Some schools have complete details and others have only a name and location. We update pages when schools publish new circulars. If you see a mistake or want to add your school, please contact us with the school name, EIIN and a link to the official source.
This is an independent information site and is not run by the government or any school.
