How to Apply for Govt School Admission 2027: Step-by-Step Guide

Applying for a government school seat in 2027 is fully online: the form, the fee, the lottery or test, and the result. This guide shows every step in simple English, with the documents you need, the fee, and the mistakes that cancel applications. The official circular with dates is not out yet, so we will update this page when it is published.

Before you start: check the age with the Age Calculator and your quota with the Quota Checker.

Before you apply: quick checklist

  • Child’s online birth registration certificate, with correct name and date of birth
  • Age on 1 January 2027: 5 to 7 years for Class 1
  • A recent colour photo of the child (last year: 300 x 300 pixels, JPG)
  • Parent or guardian’s mobile number and NID number
  • For Class 2 to 9: current school name and last result
  • Quota proof, only if you claim a quota
  • A list of the schools you want, in order of choice

How to apply for school admission 2027: step by step

  1. Wait for the official circular. It names the application portal, the dates and the fee method. We post it on our notice page as soon as it is out.
  2. Open the application portal. Last year the portal was gsa.teletalk.com.bd. Use only the website named in the new circular.
  3. Choose the class. Class 1 is by lottery. Class 2 to 9 is by written test.
  4. Enter the student’s details exactly as on the birth certificate: name, date of birth, birth registration number, and parents’ names.
  5. Choose your area and schools. Select division, district and thana, then pick schools and rank them in order of choice.
  6. Choose shift and version, such as morning or day, and Bangla or English version, if the school has them.
  7. Tick a quota only if it applies. A wrong quota can cause problems at admission, and original papers are checked later.
  8. Upload the photo in the size shown on the form.
  9. Check every field, then submit. Save or print the applicant’s copy and write down the User ID.
  10. Pay the application fee to complete the application (see the next section).

Rules for choosing schools

ClassHow many schoolsNotes
Class 1Up to 5Each shift of a double-shift school counts as 1 choice, so both shifts use 2 of your 5
Class 2 to 91 school per clusterIf the committee groups nearby schools into clusters
All classesDo not repeat a schoolMore than one application to the same school cancels all applications to it

Application fee and payment

ItemDetail
Maximum fee, Class 1Tk 110 (policy 2027)
Maximum fee, Class 2 to 9Tk 250 (policy 2027)
Admission feeSet by Ministry of Education instructions, including session charge
Last year’s feeTk 100 per application
Last year’s payment methodBy SMS from a Teletalk mobile number

An application counts only after the fee is paid, so pay as soon as you submit the form. Never pay an agent or a person who asks for extra money.

Payment method: how to pay by SMS (last year’s method)

The policy only says that fee collection is online. The payment method for 2027 will be in the circular. Last year, parents paid by mobile SMS from a Teletalk number, and we expect a similar system. Follow these steps only if the new circular says the same.

StepWhat to do
1Finish the online form and save the User ID shown on the applicant’s copy.
2From a Teletalk prepaid number, send an SMS to 16222 with: GSA <space> User ID
3You will get a reply with the fee amount and a PIN.
4Send a second SMS to 16222 with: GSA <space> YES <space> PIN
5Wait for the confirmation SMS and keep it with the applicant’s copy.
  • Keep enough balance in the Teletalk SIM for the fee and the SMS charge.
  • Some sites reported a short payment deadline after applying (48 hours was mentioned for last year). Pay on the same day to be safe.
  • Do not apply again for the same school if the confirmation is delayed, because a second application to one school cancels all applications to that school.
  • Other payment methods, such as bKash, Nagad or bank payment, were not reported for this application last year. If the new circular adds them, we will list them here.

The amount can differ from the maximum fee in the policy because of charges, so pay only the amount shown in the SMS reply or on the portal.

Payment method for 2027: online payment

For 2027 the application fee is paid online. The policy says that application, fee collection, processing and results are all online for every government secondary school. The circular and the portal will list the exact payment options, such as mobile banking, card or internet banking.

StepWhat to do
1Finish the online form, submit it, and save the User ID or application number.
2Open the payment page on the same official portal.
3Choose one of the online payment options shown there.
4Pay the exact amount shown on the portal. It may include a service charge, and the policy sets only a maximum fee of Tk 110 for Class 1 and Tk 250 for Class 2 to 9.
5Keep the payment receipt and the transaction ID.
6Check that the application status shows paid, then save or print the applicant’s copy.
  • Pay only from the payment page of the official portal. Do not use links sent through Facebook, WhatsApp or by an agent.
  • Never share your PIN, OTP or card details with anyone.
  • If money is deducted but the status still shows unpaid, keep the transaction ID and use the help contact given on the portal. Do not apply again for the same school, because a second application to one school cancels all applications to that school.
  • Pay on the same day you apply, so your application is complete before the deadline.

After you apply

  1. Class 1: DSHE runs one central digital lottery in front of admission committee members. Selected students and a waiting list equal to the vacant seats are published.
  2. Class 2 to 9: the written test is held on the date in the circular, in Bangla, English and Math. Bring a black ballpoint pen. Results come in merit order, with a waiting list.
  3. Check the result on the portal named in the circular and on the school’s website or notice board.
  4. Take admission on the date given. Bring the originals and attested copies of your documents. The school head checks quota papers in the original.
  5. If you are on the waiting list, watch the school notice. When a selected student does not take admission on time, the next student on the list is called in order.

No school can admit a student who is not on the selected list or the waiting list. See our School Lottery Result 2027 page for results.
